What changed from LibreOffice
What is kept
- The office engines: Writer, Calc, Impress, Draw, Math and Base.
- The ODF and OOXML file formats.
- Macros and the UNO API. When the assistant automates a document it writes Python UNO macros, not VBA.
- The LibreOffice credits. The copyright line and the "derived from LibreOffice" credit remain in the application.
What changed
- AI sidebar. The assistant lives in a sidebar that is shown in an embedded browser view.
- Inline completion suggestions in Writer. Writer can show suggested text ahead of your cursor as you type. The suggestions run on your computer.
- Help menu. Help (F1) and the Help menu open the OfficeLabs documentation in your browser. See LibreOffice Help and OfficeLabs Help.
- Branding. The application carries the OfficeLabs name and logo.
- Removed menu entries. Donate and Get Involved are removed from the menus, toolbars and the Start Center.
- Removed bundled content. The offline help, the bundled dictionaries and the translations are not included.
Defaults
The Tabbed interface is the default in Writer, Calc, Impress and Draw. Math and Base keep the standard toolbars. Other default settings are still being finalised, so this page does not list them.
