Local processing

Your documents are read and edited on your own computer. A small background service starts when the application launches and stops with it. It accepts connections only from your own computer.

What the service does​

  1. Receives your request from the sidebar.
  2. Plans the task and calls the document tools.
  3. Reads and changes the document through the LibreOffice UNO API on your machine.
  4. Returns the changes to the sidebar for you to review.

Chat in the sidebar does not run on your computer. The text of your request and the document content it needs are sent over an encrypted connection to the AI model in the cloud, through your OfficeLabs account. Inline suggestions in Writer are the exception: they run on your computer, on a model that ships with the app. See What is sent and Data flow.
